NOC167 (Melvin Samuels jr.), born 1961 Queens New York

"Graffiti needs to be refreshing". NOC calls himself a Graffiti Prince because he's the only one with this graffiti name among the many graffiti artists calling themselves Kings. Like many graffiti writers did, 167 stands for the street number where he lives in New York.

NOC started tagging when he was 11 years old. A few years later he became a member of the famous Death Squad and he became the president of that group. He was also a member of OTB (Out To Bomb), a group that was doing lots of trains. His famous train Style Wars represents the wars between the different graffiti letters styles during the seventies.

NOC stopped doing trains in 1980 as his mother got an important job in the Carter administration and he didn't want to embarrass her.

He started working on canvas after the famous Fashion Moda Show in 1980. He earned a lot of money with his paintings, mostly based on the comics he loves.

He envisioned a career as a movie director. NOC wants to make movies and is inspired by George Lucas the director of Star Wars. "His movies have to do with the theory of the spray can. Style Wars was inspired on those movies, being the name of the first big clash between the different graffiti styles"."We planned to have the ultimate style fight at some train station in the middle of the night, but it turned out to me being alone in the dark and nobody showing up. So I did this Style Wars train all by myself with my best quality spray cans, Red Devil paint, a fat cap and lots of skinny caps. It all happened on Superb all Sunday, the day the Pittsburgh Stealers won the game for the fourth time in a row. I choose tat day because I knew the Stealers were going to win. I felt very certain and at ease when I want to that subway."
